Colloquium Transport Planning Research 2013

Every year, in week 47, the Colloquium Transport Planning Research (in Dutch: Colloquium Vervoersplanologisch Speurwerk) takes place. It is a meeting place for researchers, policy makers and other professionals interested in research topics related to the interfaces between traffic, transport and spatial planning. Ben Immers, who has been present at the colloquium many times, represented TrafficQuest this year. He presented two papers: one about the results of the workshop on analogies for traffic management and one on the effects of “silver (haired) drivers” on traffic efficiency and safety. That paper was the result of a project in which TrafficQuest participated.

National Traffic Congress 2013

TrafficQuest participated in the National Traffic Engineering and Planning Congress 2013. Just like last year it was held in the Brabanthallen in 's-Hertogenbosch. During the plenary session, the Beter Benutten Programme (the action plan for optimal use of infrastructure) was presented, as well as the booklet “Verandering in reisgedrag” (“Changes in travel behavior”). Subsequently, parallel sessions treated various subjects. Special attention was paid to data and pedestrians this year. TrafficQuest attended the conference and, like last year, presented to papers. The first paper dealt with analogies for traffic management and the second paper discussed traffic predictions using models. It was, again, an interesting congress.

Succesful masterclass about the future

During the 20th "International Symposium Transportation & Traffic Theory", held in Noordwijk from July 16th until Jluy 20th, TrafficQuest organised a masterclass on the future of traffic management. The session was attended by about 35 people from the national and international field of traffic and transport, consisting of policy makers, practitioners and scientists. Isabel Wilmink, member of TrafficQuest chaired the session and introduced the five interesting speakers and presentations on the various topics on the program. It was a very interesting and succesful afternoon. The presentations can be viewed and downloaded in the remainder of the text.
